Opening Day!! Rockies win! WOOT! Posted by Picasa

Opening day!

Great weekend. Duane's soccer game on Friday resulted in an overwhelming victory...we got pulled over because some cop wanted to check out the registration that we just had renewed that very same afternoon. View-age of Ice Age 2---very cute.

Saturday had a bit of shopping, Sunday we met with a potential photographer, looked at some possible invitations, lunched in the Highlands, walked the dogs around the lake, and chatted with the rents. The next few weeks are going to be filled with out-of-town visitors, Pesach, and Broadmoore brunching-- to which I am not opposed. :)

Today we're going to the Rockies opening day! YAY! They are playing the Diamondbacks (woo Arizona!), and Duane got us club level for the event. We're going to be leaving in a bit here....

After the game we're stopping by the rentals to secure some more of my crap from their basement. I moved in with Duane 4 months ago, but I still have a small island of belongings in the basement.

I've made a decision about wedding flowers, and I have my heart set on magnolias. UNFORTCH, they are only available in the south. WTF? I need some magnolias, people. We'll certainly have to finagle.

Juice-a-holic

It may seem ridiclulous, but I find that compiling a shopping list for the week and executing the retrieval of grocer goods together is an entirely romantic adventure. Besides, going grocery shopping by yourself sucks.

Duane dropped mayo accidentally...a first...and it exploded onto the floor. I promptly yelled, "CLEAN UP ON AISLE 6, " therefore achieving a life-long goal.

I'm in a juice mode. Cherry & white grape = perfection.

I cleaned the house for 4 hours yesterday, but my work proved to bear fruit, therefore I am pleased. We still have a way to go before 5 guests move in very soon.

My skin is exploding. I have had flawless skin for the past 6 months, and now this. I need more product. DERMALOGICA = the best.

I feel like walking out of work right now. BOREDOM.

I hope I get that new job...that would bring back a glimmer of the lifestyle I once maintained while living in Denver.

Yay.

Back to playing "office."

The best time for the Dunes...

Friday...what did we do Friday? Ah yes. I drove over to Duane's place of employment, had lunch, and played on his computer while he did "worky" things to finish up the day. We also saw
"Stay Alive" in the evening, which was mildly entertaining, and was followed with a mutual "WHY DO WE KEEP WATCHING SCARY MOVIES?" type reaction. We're such wimps--> insert jacket over face.

Saturday we rose somewhat early, had some roll-age, and then Duane grabbed tickets for the Rockies opening day at Coor's field. After ticket nab-bage, Duane signed up for the indoor soccer league, and his first game was the same night. He played two games on Saturday night, and we left just before midnight into a FOGGY, FOGGY evening.

Coming from a family that isn't too hardcore into sports, it was a relatively new experience to support someone on the field. Next week's game I'll be the chick in the stands with a glittery "DUANE" poster.

ANYWHO...yesterday we watched Failure to Launch and did typical SUNDAY activities: bagels, newspaper read-age, etc. Sarah Jessica Parker is not pretty to look at, people.

Yikes.

There was enough fake tanner in that flick to turn a small clan of children into oompa loompas.

Andrea = British American

So today. Not especially exciting.

What does excite me is the possible relocation to England next year. Duane's citizenship will qualify me as a British citizen after we get hitched. Quite the wedding present, no?

Going to school in England = YES.

Write focused business memos.

V for Vendetta = EXCEPTIONAL. I would highly suggest seeing it for some true entertainment. Its the first film I've seen in months that has actually been worth the money.

Not okay

Getting to work this morning gave me a huge migraine. It snowed heavily two days ago. TWO.DAYS.AGO. There is still packed snow and ice on all the steets. I fish-tailed a half a dozen times getting to work, and this stresses me out BEYOND belief. I either need to live in a desert community, or somehwere where the public transport operates well-enough that I don't have to drive at all.

So. 10:07am. At work. Huge migraine. Want to leave.

I hope Duane can pick me up today...I really don't want to drive in this again...

A whirlwind weekend

We got an incredible amount of crapola done this weekend. Duane picked me up from work on Friday...this included an ill-fated last-minute plan to take swing lessons that just DIDN'T happen. Unscathed by this attempt, we headed up to the Royal Gorge for a small afternoon trip, and made future plans to once again return to take advantage of some great white water rafting. We were both bitten by the WWR bug from our first trips not too long ago, and are quite eager to return to the rapids.

Wedding planning is pretty much in full force more than a year to go until the big fiesta. Looking this early is proving to be wise, as every single venue is open for our date, and we have time to peruse each possible facility we could ever think of.

As we are both opposed to an overly traditional wedding, our seaches have taken us to quite an ecclectic assortment of venues. Needless to say, we are pulsing with ideas, and every time we go looking, we come back wiser and full of excitement. Let it be known: our wedding will kick some major butt, and you will NOT see another wedding like ours. Our ultimate goal is of course to have our wedding in our own signature style. My second *secret* goal is to be featured in The Knot magazine. I can assure you that both of these goals will be met.

As it is snowing in Colorado Springs, I am not in work this morning. I'm not sure I will be going in the afternoon, either. The roads are still icy and snowy, which is typical of the city. I don't *do* icy and snowy roads.

Oh! And I was nearly struck by lightning yesterday...not a joke. The crack happened within 50 feet of where I was standing. I nearly crapped my pants. Not kidding.

Duane was a madman with the laundry last night. I cleaned the kitchen and made dinner, but he is the ultimate cleaning force in the house, no question.

I'm off to browse wedding photogs. Ciao-

The air is astink with boredom

And pizza. I should have tackled the Domino pizza guy in the hall just now. But alas...

I'm in a panini craze as of late. Its an absolute shame that foods which pack on the pounds taste so freaking good.

Pink and brown (with some green accents) are the colors for the wedding. Yes. Until I change my mind.

Second day burritos taste the best.

Do you ever get into those phases of 'not looking good?' This entire week I have looked like TRASH. WTF?

Top Chef isn't filling the Project Runway void now in my life. America's Top Model is just starting, so there is hope. I'm sure Jade is going to cause some DRAMA...thank God. Nothing beats the antics of Andrae, I'm afraid.

Deb and Dan will be out soon! We're going to brunch at the Broadmoor when they get into town, and they shall tour the homestead promptly following. It will be good to see them soon.

All you gotta do is jump OVER the moon

That boy needs therapy!

Monday, and boy do I feel CRUSTY.

So I finally watched Harry Potter...the first 3 films this weekend, and it wasn't too bad. I am now officially a pagan. JAY KAAAAAY!

YOGURT SMOOTHIE. 3% juice.

Also saw the Libertine this weekend, as well. That was an awkward viewing experience...and that wasn't due to the content of the film. Try sitting in the back row with a seat that doesn't feel right, a big-headed dude in front of you blocking the view, and trying to eat a fragrant panini undetected.

Stylish Women's Clothing!

Freaking Ridiculous

So I have to pay my bank 15 bucks for a replacement credit card that was actually in the kitchen. I found it less than 5 minutes after I made the call to get another one. GREAT. I am spending 15 bucks for a card I can't even put anything on, as the balance hasn't been more than 100 bucks lower than the maximum for over a year.

I should have waited for Duane to call me back. My haste has cost me more money than I'd like to count.

I need a better job. This lifestyle is NOT working whatsoever.

Grandma DOWN

Bizarre weekend. Champagne brunch this morning....glorious! Except....

At the bananas foster table, this eighty year old woman asked the 15 year-old dude in a chef's hat working there if she could have an omelet.

10 minutes later we're sitting at our table munching away when we hear some dishes crash to the floor in the "OMELET ZONE." We thought it was just a plate that had crashed, but when we passed by the said "zone," who did we see on the stairs clutching her hip? GRANDMA OMELET! Surrounding her not only was shattered dreams (not to mention a shattered hip) and porcelain, but her dear omelet.

She should have ordered the foster...in the STAIR-FREE area.

Wedding

I've spent an ungodly amount of time on theknot.com. We've settled on colors and theme...starting to work on a guest list. I've picked out a katubah by a LOVELY Indian Jewish convert as well as a photographer. Mom would like to make the chupah, but we'll see if we can find any appropriate fabric...I'm thinking silks or watercolors.

I require a salt glow

Where's Andrae?
It did my soul some good to see Andrae on Project Runway tonight...the DOOR montage was HILARIOUS. I can't believe Heidi's people did what they did to Jay.

Work has been bizarre this week...computers have been down, and I have felt absolutely useless. Duane has been at a conference, and I have been doing nothing. I can't find my teal sports bra, and that's basically been my excuse for not working out this week.

Project Runway

I don't think I can take anymore. First they have robbed me of my weekly dose of Andrae, and NOW they kick off NICK?!?!?! I seriously cried. Santino needs to go...that horrible excuse for clothing on Kara was GLUED ON. Le sigh. Nick is genius...and I hope he rocks New York big time.

Daniel is taking it home, people. Chloe is seriously surprising me. Nick's suit was AWESOME.

My ORGINAL final three pick: 1. Daniel 2. Nick 3. Chloe

Nothing Changes

2006 has been a great year so far...but jam packed full of change. G-d bless Myspace, for real. In a matter of one month, I have tracked down TWO of my very close friends from my childhood, and traveled back home since I left in 94...words cannot describe what this means to me. When I left Arizona, I felt like my life was over, and that everything else that happened was never as good as how I had it growing up. Rather dramatic for an 11 year old, ey?

But its true. As a result of the move, I clung to every memory as though it was the only thing keeping me alive. I truly believed that I romanticized it so much, that I began to think it was all a dream, the past. Memories I had once read in a book somewhere; never my life. Now its all back...and tangible. It only took 12 years to get back to where I started. It hits me, people.

I'm back to the beginning, and this place...this is where I can finally grow up.

Fight Cancer- Support Chris Miller!

Hola, amigos!
We all know someone or have had a family member suffer from cancer.
Here's a chance for you to support the fight against it!

My friend Chris, a great guy and an officer in the Air Force, is running The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Marathon, and needs some support. I definitely know we are all strapped for cash, but even if you could even donate a few bucks, it would make a difference for a worthy cause. See his note and link below:

Well folks I officially will start my training (not like I haven't been working out for the training for the last 2-3 months) this coming Friday. However today I officially start my fundraising for the marathon (more important) today... You can see how I'm doing at the following site:http://www.active.com/donate/tntgmo/CMMUSAFPlease please please... give what you can... it is such a worthy cause!

Anniversary

Today is our 6 month anniversary. We started it off with a daring bout of breakfast this AM, followed by a small trek up north to the rentolas for chicken wings, puppy love, watching Jake Plummer throw passes directly into the hands of the Steelers, and accupressure. It was magnificent.

We snagged the first season of House to watch every single epi from day one, and so far it has been a delicious adventure of Mr. Laurie proportion. We all can't be Oxford-esque, Young-One snobs, but we can sure as hell man-crush and enjoy wicked sarcasm and American accents. YAY!

"LA la la DEE dah! MY father got me a job at the BBC!"

Ahh...I heart that show.

Puppy photos! YAY! Here they cometh.

Stabbing in your general direction...

Auditions yesterday were AWESOME. No matter what happens, I know I definitely killed it.

Interview tomorrow AM, which just so happens to be my last day of work here. Thank God.

PRJOECT RUNWAY COMMENTS:

Project Runway last night was ENRICHED with goodness. Marla seriously had it coming, and I have no idea how she was able to hang from the skin of her teeth this long. Diana wasn't that awful, but she was always going nuts with the same kind of straps (did you notice the lingerie and Nicki Hilton gown strap*theme?).

I knew there was absolutely NO WAY they would eliminate Santino and Nick, because they are the two top creative peeps on that show. But I would be careful, because Daniel V ALWAYS brings it. He is mad consistent, and while he may not win every week, his work is never sub-par. Andrae could also be the dark horse, but that denim thing he was working a few weeks ago was almost as bad as the breakdown he had along with presenting the garment. I love his outbursts the best, however. Four words, people: WHERE IS MY CHIFFON?

Top three: Santino, Nick, and Daniel V.

Wow, I am sick with obsession.

Back to trabajo...

Just another day in paradise

I have 2.5 more days left at this job. Today there was an instance in which I wanted to *escape*, you know what I mean? Hmmm...actually there hasn't been a day in the past 6 weeks that I felt absolutely comfortable. It seems as though I can do absolutely no right at this job, and I find that to be HILARIOUS.

Duane has to work tonight. MER.

Phoenix this weekend. Pippin audition tomorrow. Tonight I need to secure some jazzy fresh jazz pants for some dance shenanigans.

I should be interviewing for another job this week or next...HOORAY!

Turns out that the kids didn't try to rip me off, ALTHOUGH I DID NOT receieve a call back from the dean of Mathematics at CU-Denver. WTF?

Duane's designated 'DAD MUG' arrived this weekend, which was grand. I also went to this po-dunk steak house in Elizabeth where teeth were most certainly an option, and by no means a requirement. The prime rib was mighty tasty, however, and the cook came out to chat with us during the meal, which was a surprise.

Sunday I was in a HELLACIOUS mood, so Duane got my butt out of bed, and we hauled it to the Stock Show in Denver because my mom was begging us to do so. I was a bit jazzed from watching 'Brokeback Mountain,' and was eager to immerse myself in the 'cowboy scene,' if you will. Also we thought being 'outside' might lift the spirits, and boy were we wrong.

First, cows and horses aren't our 'thing,' but we like to stay open minded. We paid 10 bucks to park, and 18 for admission. That admission price got you nothing but the privilege to be surrounded by vendors. And not just any vendors...vendors that sold crap that is identified and BANNED on 'Clean Sweep' and 'What Not to Wear.' Let's review the run-down, shall we?
-Lamps with NASCAR logos
-Quilts with WOLF/COYOTE/HORSE prints
-Denim vests

Need I say more?

Anywho, the parents were watching the rodeo ($9 per person extra!), and I refused to pay for that. So we ended up walking around, sneezing, and feeding some goats for an hour and a half. The drive alone was 1.25 hours long to the Stock Show, and we stayed just under 2 hours. I also bit Duane's head off for not wanting BBQ.

Yes. It was that bad.

This weekend: ROAD TRIP TO PHOENIX. Stay pertly tuned for pictures from our trip, and for pictures of me with goats. IT WILL BE AMAZING.

I immediately regret this decision

FIRST BIG MISTAKE OF 2006

I am so incredibly stupid. Some college kids came into the office selling cologne out of their backpacks and I bought some with my check card. I did not get a receipt, and I did not get a contact number. I.AM.AN.IDIOT.

I doubt these people are going to rip me off, but I have an incredibly sick feeling in my belly.

I called my bank. TWICE. They said to watch my balance, and that if I was overcharged, VISA would credit my account. I think I am going to wait for this transaction to go through, and then I am going to change my card information. I can't just cut off the card, because if the kids are legit, I don't want to scam them.

Ugh. This is what I get for wanting CK Euphoria at a fraction of the cost.

MOVING ON

Duane has to work tonight, which sucks. I'll most likely just sleep until he gets home, and then we'll go see BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN, and enjoy Jakey Poo on screen.

I am five years old.

2 trips to Safeway = one successful spinach dip.

Breaking in the Frye's tonight. LOVING THEM.

Next week is my last week at the tech firm. I have Pippin auditions on Wed. If I don't get a paying gig, I will most definitely me on the job hunt, fo rizzle.

Wow, I can't sleep. We took a two hour nap today, and I am completely recharged.

In a world full of people

The weekend flew, people. NYE was a blast...Club Eden = fantabulous. I was jazzed we took a cab both ways, as the queue was over 100 people to be picked up from downtown. Our driver was a psychotherapist/equestrian illustrator making a couple bucks on the side. Sweet jodi.

Brunch on Sunday at Inverness cost over 330 buckaroos. Youch. And no, my friends, there were no banana fosters to speak of. I was PISSED. Chillaxed at the rents. Watched Harold & Maude. Bud Court has been in EVERYTHING. He reminded me of Kyle. Although he was 23 in that picture, he still looked 12 years old, which made the whole 'sex with Maude' thing TRES nasty.

2005...RIP

This year proved to be jam-packed with tons-o-crap, and great times:

In no specific order:

I met my baby, Duane, met some now great friends (Steve, Chris & Kendra) from the Air Force Connection, went to the Air Force Academy graduation, had wisdom teeth ripped from my skull, got a raise, did Sweet Charity, my mom was in the hospital, my dad was in the hospital, quit my job, got a new job, I moved out of my crappy ass apartment, moved back in with the rents, had new headshots taken, moved in with Duane, had a car accident, saw Matisyahu in concert twice, went to the Social D concert, went to the Papa Roach concert, lost weight, gained that shit back, went to NYC, went to the Lower East Side of Manhattan for my birthday, got hooked on Dane Cook, took holiday in Aspen/Snowmass, got sick as a dog, and saw RENT on broadway from the first row.

Loved it.

Here's to 2006. Here's what I'm expecting *ahem*: Engagement, magazine in which I am featured comes out, back to school, voiceover classes, theatre, Euro Trip, weight loss (this time, permanent!), and great health for my family and those around me.

YAY!

My dad's b-day is on the first, so I am going to get him some gourmet knives. HENCKEL-GASM! Duane and myself are heading to Eden for New Year celebrations, and we plan to have a wicked time.

Transitions

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KYLE!~

It has hit me that I am almost done with this temp stint here in el Sprangs. I have Pippin auditions two weeks from today. AGHHHH! I am supposed to start school on the 16th, but if I get a part (paid role), then I will be in Arvada from 1-10p during the week, everyday. Its going to have to be quite the balancing act if I get this gig. *SIGH* But what a gig, am I right?

The magazine has it's soft opening in two weeks. I have an entire page feature as a new model! YAY! I am so excited! WOOT!

Supposed to get off at 1:30 today, but that is so not happening. I can hope for an early release, however. We'll see.

Started back on the treadmill last night. Two words for you people: oy vey.

Falling in love has been the best thing to happen to me, but my bum has increased in size in the past few months. NOT KOSHER. We need to fix this. :)

Anywho...back to el grind.

Paramount Theatre

Getting out

Horrible dream last night that jolted me awake in tears. I had to call my mom at 1am because it disturbed me that much.

RANDOM: Colorado Springs is really not my cup of tea, I'm afraid. I'd so much more like to be living in Chicago.

They are having Pippin auditions in Westminster. If I drove from here, it would be around a 2 hour commute. OY. I also have an audition for this art/theatre company next weekend here in the Springs. I have no idea what to read for this audition. Meh. We'll see.

I'm in a horrible mood this morning because of last night's little adventures and this morning's drama.

This day needs to LEAVE.

I feel like I am missing something...in a proverbial sense.

Come and get it

Mom went thru hell to try to get back from CA with the 'crew.' Not cool.

We went up to Parker last night to take out Zohar and stop by 'el Meadows' for holiday giftage.

Duane's titanium money clip came in, so I had to give it to him. He really didn't want a gift before Christmas, but I couldn't wait any longer. :)

*signs coffee guy receipt*

When we got back home, he gave me a gift to open, as well. And what is it? VERA WANG!!! YAAAAAY! I have been dying to have that fragrance for two months now. It is finally all mine. :)

Woot.

I wish it was Friday.

Just ordered my mom's Hanukkah present...should be delivered by mid next weekage.

The modeling gig is ON. I believe I will be featured in the summer or spring issue. I'll post when it comes out.

Duane put up the tree last night, and I gotta admit that it looks awesome. I haven't had a tree in my house since the wee, wee years. Very cool.

SO.TIRED.

Anywho...gotta get back to el grindage.
